I'm a home-owner

I'm now the proud owner of 2000 square feet of popcorn ceilings! Well, that's not entirely true, the living room was spared the popcorn, but you get the point. We've bought our first house and it is ugly, ugly, ugly. I've always dreamed of buying an outdated home and sprucing it up, but now that it's mine....yikes! I have to live in it! My to-do list is packed full until 2041! In case you don't believe me, see for yourself....

This, my friends, is my new living room. Doesn't it make you shudder?

And the other side of the living room...

Here is the study. It's not too bad. I'm loving those floors, and we are hoping to find more when we pull up all the carpet.

Here is the master bedroom. Two things about this room make we want to cry. 1. the carpet 2. that light. Can you see that florescent yuckiness peeking through at the top of the photo? It's coming down within the week. I'd rather live in complete darkness.

And the kitchen....more florescent charm. Also, please note what is going on at the front of that bar. Yes, carpet. On. a. wall. How? Why?

The dining room isn't too bad. I've got big, beautiful plans for it, so stay tuned!

And of course the front of the house. Duddy.

If you are one of the many people out there who are redecorating their house on a budget, this is about to become your favorite blog. Keep checking in as I post updates and transformations.

Awesome! Welcome to the ranks of "new owners of hideous houses." Except ours has electric blue asbestos siding. With cream colored trim.

I am so mad you bought a house right after we moved out of town. You are having us over when we come visiting....we will bring the champagne!
And I really can not wait to see what you do to it. I know it will be perfect.

Very cool! Congrats on your first house, and I can't wait to see how it progresses under your magic touch. :) If you're not already reading it, I've got to suggest: younghouselove.com

Congratulations on the new home! Super exciting! And hey, even though you've got carpet-on-a-wall in your kitchen/eating area... That is One. Huge. Kitchen. It's a lot easier to remodel an already existing large kitchen, than it is to tear down walls and work with small space in order to create a kitchen that *appears* bigger. :)

Can't wait to see all your fun projects! Try not to get overwhelmed. It's all one step at a time, as my parents say. :)
