Oilcloth lampshade

What is wrong with this picture?

Did you guess? Yes, yes, the ugly, outdated over-sized lamp shade that graces the very middle of that main wall. I have searched and searched for a shade to go with that lovely lamp, but found nothing that quite suited it. We picked up the lamp at an antique store the week after we got married. It has been my favorite since, minus the shade.

The more I thought about lamp shades, the more I hated them. They are the worst things to dust! I have resorted to using a paint brush because it was the only thing I found to be coarse enough to really clean the surface. But then it dawned on me, why not make a lamp shade out of something I can WIPE CLEAN!?

Oilcloth, you come to my rescue again! I love you! I got online and found this brand new design from oilcloth.com. With some measuring, fabric glue, hot glue, and a couple of hours, I had a brand new lampshade. Now tell me this isn't a bajillion times better?

Watch out, I might do the same to every lamp in the house.
